Who's in? (This will be my first trip to Egypt since 2019!) EDS's Egypt event features discussions on new membrane technologies, case studies, and concept development for green hydrogen. The event includes various sessions focusing on RO plant performance, thermal desalination, and advanced materials. A key highlight is the examination of Egypt's strategy for expanding desalination projects by 2050. Additional activities include panel discussions, exhibitions, poster presentations, wellness sessions, and networking events, with a closing ceremony and innovation award presentation on the final day.

Last week, I had the privilege of reconnecting with Marwan E. in the UK, a childhood friend who went into engineering and has contributed to incredible infrastructure projects around the globe. It's always inspiring to see how our paths cross and how the connections we build early on can lead to great things. Marwan's work has played a significant role in creating the structures that support our everyday lives, reminding me of the impact we can have when we pursue our passions with dedication and integrity. It's not just about the projects we complete; it's about the legacy we leave and the connections we maintain.

I had the chance to meet a diverse global and talented young team actively [Re]thinking Accountability in the Context of Youth-centred Water Action for SDG 6 at the International Water Association HQs in London through a fellowship program. As a team, they have stirred the project dubbed "Youth-Focused Accountability Framework for the Water Action Agenda”, from an idea to actionable items. A big applause to Charles Shachinda, Chelsea Hayward, Farokh Kakar. PhD. PMP®, Inês Breda, Ph.D., Jacob Amengor, and Pabel Cervantes Avilés , and of course IWA and GRUNDFOS (Kala Vairavamoorthy and Isabela Espíndola and Astrid Nørgaard Friis and Inês Breda, Ph.D.) for their continued support and commitment to empowering this generation of future water leaders through this fellowship.

A non #WaterQuestion: Can you guess what Kala and I share in common? (Hint: other than water) I finally had the chance to meet Kala Vairavamoorthy at the International Water Association's headquarters in London. It was an opportunity to update him on our progress at Desalytics, helping Solve Africa's Water Challenges. Kala also shared the latest about IWA's flagship event in Toronto, and we discussed how we could further collaborate. I invite you all to register for the IWA World Water Congress & Exhibition, in August 2024, and secure your spots early on.

As I reflect on last week's Global Water Summit, I give a special shoutout to Christopher Gasson, founder of Global Water Intelligence (GWI), for assembling the crème de la crème of our industry, and for his leadership in organizing this event and creating a platform for meaningful discussions and collaborations. His dedication and entrepreneurial spirit resemble Rajiv Mittal who built VA TECH WABAG LTD. to the giant it is today. They inspire us to keep pushing the boundaries and finding innovative solutions to water challenges. Highlights from the Summit: 🗣️Panel Discussion: I had the honor of moderating a packed session on "Desal's 5 Big Challenges," exploring key issues like cost of capital, decarbonization, flexibility, brine disposal, and providing desalinated water for agriculture (photo below). 🫂Networking and Collaboration: The event offered a fantastic opportunity to connect with inspiring leaders, similar to Christopher and Rajiv, across the globe. 💡Innovations and Awards: The GWS is a place to talk and reward innovation. Congratulations to all the winners at the Global Water Awards, with special mention to ACCIONA for winning the Desalination Company of the Year. It's inspiring to see groundbreaking work recognized. 🚀 Looking Ahead: The summit emphasized the critical role businesses play in sustainably managing and replenishing global water resources. Conversations about decarbonization, water reuse, and emerging contaminants highlighted the industry's challenges and the opportunities for innovation. As we continue pushing the boundaries in the water industry, let's work together to ensure a sustainable and secure water future for everyone.

AWC (American Water Chemicals)'s leadership team is EVERYWHERE. I love how Mohannad Malki and Daniele Strongone spend extensive time touring the world, meeting their clients and partners to understand client needs. It is always great to reconnect with them. Here in London, at the Global Water Summit, I had the chance to catch up with them and talk about the progress of Desalytics' collaboration in Africa, the latest innovations that AWC is pursuing, and their New Products Introduction (NPIs). Stay tuned as we unveil more. Thank you Mylene P. for the photo 🙏
